In February 2001, we set out the ground work for the year long license and on August 7th 2001, we were invited by the Radio Authority (Ofcom) to apply for the PILOT License Scheme.
The Project serves the Asian population in Glasgow, broadcasting in Urdu, Punjabi and English delivering entertainment, news local, national and community information in a bi-lingual format.
On April 15th 2002 we started our technical tests and went live on Air Monday 29th April 2002 for one full year.
Awaz FM is the voice of Glasgow's community and of all faiths; a voice to let the people of Glasgow expresses their needs, desires and giving organisations a chance to use Awaz FM as a platform to deliver their aims and objectives.
Awaz FM is run wholly on volunteers and has no paid staff.
