I think if the people of Glasgow i.e. the muslims had enough sense and knowledge they should have followed saudi. Its simple very simple Hajj was on Monday which means Eid is on Tuesday that is when the 3 days start not on Wed. The state of Islam is a mess. How can Muslims unite if one city cant decide to have Eid on one day. This is a great injustice by the so called Imam's and I would urge every Glasgow and UK Muslim to rise up and over throw these ignorant arrogant people. In my humble opinion everyone is to blame especially the sheep that follow these misguided people. This only consistently happens
amongst Pakistani communities. In rest of the Islamic world Eid was on Tuesday...How how and how can they get this Eid wrong. What a sad sad day......thank god I dont live amongst such pathetic people anymore. I apologizes for my strong wrong words but enough is enough ...publish this if you like ...i dont really care anymore.
salaam. anyone with the slightest bit of knowledge would know that the basic of the islamic calander depend on the moon and not Saudi. Although i have the utmost respect for Saudi as it is homeland of the two things that are the closest to my heart, i will follow the imams of the country that i am in rather than ones which are in a total different time zone. remember when the moon is born(visible with the naked eye without the use of help ie telescope etc) in asia it does not mean that it is born in europe. That is the guide line which has been set for us to follow, and not to follow Saudi.
Whan the Imams of this country sit in the meeting they have the reports from the observatory which clarify weather or not the moon can be seen by the naked eye at the appointed times in the country where we are resident. If however they do not follow this simple guideline and decide to follow someone else they should be removed from the meetings, and also in my opinion from the mosques as they are not fit to lead the people if they follow other people over the guidelines set out for us to follow.
In this age of technology, why do we need local imams to decide when eid or ramadan should be! In olden days when the means of communication were almost non existent, when the world hadn't been introduced to telescopes, meteorology, physics, computers etc the learned men in those days perhaps did all the calculations to ascertain when the lunar months began ....we don't need the imams to do the scientific work calculating the rotation of moon ....they are not trained scientists or meteorologists or physicists or astronomers !

i am sorry if you are saying in past times people were not knowledgeable or did not understand the luner system
i respectfully urge you to go through the Holy Quran,
it will give full explanation you do not have to belive these
as you call them local; imams please get you own facts than.......
I dont think its an issue of if ones knowledge is better than another. whats good is people taking the time to dicuss. thats whats missing. im currently on holiday...and while in gran canaria...i decided to goto the local mosque in another town and of couse the sermon was in arabic, more arabic people. kutbaa was long. now any so called pakistani sitting here...would have thought kutbaa lasted far too long, juma prayers started 1445h, no with most arabic people dua wasnt read at the end. that is the thing...islam is different in many ways and we all take differant directions or do slightly different things. for me there i was surprised but i have been elsewhere in the world to know how muslims conduct themselves at time of prayers. what they do have is unity. ie. they diecide before hand what method to follow and they abide by that. we in the uk or glasgow will vary. we are all right in our way it just the way we all go about it. so hence its all about as long as one city celebrates together is just as important as one country celebrates together. by the way...the new moon was so beautiful...the sharpest of crescents i have ever seen. so hence why in north africa or middle east its easier to see.
I agree with the most above peoples as we have to follow our Islam ways but not Saudis. when we have very upto date methods of tecnologies in place. Tell all Imams to take the back seat know and let us decide our Eids and Hajj days. We had enough. Some time Eid is done when it should be a Roza.
We can harp on forever about the rights and wrong of our great religions decision makers, but unfortunately its not going to ever make an iota of a difference. The people and so called elders that hold the power in the religion are set in their strange ways. On how they reach important decisions and ultimately contradict decisions by Muslims from other parts of the world, country and even town or street mystifies not only you and I but all of the other monotheist religions worldwide. Islam does not have a leading figure or some sort of universally recognized council simply because Muslims just don’t trust each other,. This has been the case since the passing of the prophet (mpuh) and then there is the dozens of different ways the religion is taught, believed and worshipped. For example Pakistani Muslims have established a very different Islamic culture to that of North African Muslims and they in turn are different to east and South African or Middle Eastern Muslims. Even though we all believe the ONE QURAN there are dozens of interpretations … So all in all the Religion is very much split and the only thing that binds and unites the Muslim world are the sacred pillars/ commandments and of course the shahadah.. So go forth and testify the SHAHADAH celebrate your Eid with a happy and loving heart and let the decision makers enjoy their small moment of glory and power in this world. :)
