Children changing for gym at their desk with boys and girls mixed

On Tuesday (27/09/11) in Tonys show we raised the question after some parents contacted us regarding boys and girls in primary class change for gym at their desk. Majority are unaware of this, few parents have asked head teacher to do something, response is we dont have facilities. Do you agree something needs to be done?

In response to last nights show we have emailed a request to the Cabinet Secretary for Education Michael Russell alongisde his minister colleagues who serve Greater Glasgow (Nicola and Humza). we hope to hear something regarding this issue soon. what this program highlighted what many of the parents, muself included, were unaware this happened. if the facilities arent there then the need for class seperation at time of changing must be setup even if its in the classroom. There needs to be a clear speration in primary schools for boys and girls changing for gym.

I urge all parents to ask their children if this is happening in their school, also parent to let their PTA know and become involved in their PTA and also let the headteacher know of their concerns.

RE Children changing for PE together. No changes after contacting headteacher so I wrote to the education manager at the council. Within days I received a letter from aforementioned headteacher that they had arranged for a screen to be placed in the classroom, allowing boys and girls to change separately. Changing rooms are available but aren't used as " it takes up too much time " etc.

If you are concerned about this issue - or any other - regarding out children please do something about it. That is the only way change will happen.
