PICNIC IN THE PARK

    Pack up your picnic and get ready for a great family day out. For Rouken Glen Park in Giffnock is host to 'Picnic in the park' on 6 June from 1-5pm. The event is part of the national 'Family Week 2010' celebrations and is being organised locally by East Renfrewshire faith forum. The picnic in the park is a chance for families to come together and enjoy a day in the lovely surroundings of Rouken Glen Park. Bring along your picnic and enjoy the fun and entertainment.

    Among the attractions will be a farmers' market, food from around the world, kite making and flying, five-a-side football, touch rugby, face and Henna painting, and bubble runners at the boating pond. Picnic in the park is part of National Family Week. It is the UK's biggest annual celebration of family life aiming to highlight the importance of quality time together and promote the benefits of a healthy, active lifestyle. This year, thousands of record-setting, action-packed and fun-filled family events are taking place in every corner of the country so families everywhere can enjoy eating, learning, playing, exploring and getting out and active together.     Picnic in the park is organised by The East Renfrewshire Faith Forum. The forum works to increase the fostering of good relations in the area and increase the building of friendships and understandings between people.

Glasgow East 5K Fun Run and Big Day Oot

Sunday 13th June 2010 at 10:00am

The Glasgow East 5K registration is now open and entry is FREE!

The run kicks off at 10am and is open to people of all ages and sporting abilities and whether people choose to walk or run, it’s the perfect opportunity for the whole family to get involved and have a great day out.

We will ask people to gather in Tollcross Park where instructions to the race start line will be given by event stewards.

Limited parking space available in Tollcross Leisure Centre however participants are asked to park within the surrounding streets, if possible - or even better, go green get the bus! See www.firstglasgow.com

Be there no later than 10am for the warm up, run starts 10.30am. This event is not a timed run.

 

The Big Day Oot!

This is the fantastic festival for Glasgow East, taking place at different points along the 5K Fun Run Route and within the beautiful Tollcross Park! Once the runners have passed, stick around to watch local children, young people and community groups perform a variety of songs, music, dances and sketches.

Follow the performers as they weave their way into the park where The Big Day Oot has a host of treasures including live music, dance and drama activities, storytelling, visual art, information stalls, health and well being activity, sports action and games and much much more!
